CIANCI GATTI

Cianci Gatti, aka “The Artist on the Mouth Organ”, was born in Innsbruck in 1920.
He was already a gifted cabaret artist and musician during his school days, until World War II interrupted his career.
Under the accusation of having collaborated with the partisans, he was brought to the concentration camp in Reschen Street in Bozen in 1943.
After the War he resumed his artistic activities, on radio as well as on stage.
Then his unique talent on the mouth organ was discovered, winning him international fame in the 1950ies and 60ies.
At the end of the 1970ies he left the stage to study Italian Literature, working later as a teacher until his retirement.
The film Cianci Gatti  gives insight into this man's complex and interesting life.
For this film Cianci returned to the stage after an absence of over 20 years.
